VP8ADE 28 MHz Beacon - Rothera Base
IMPORTANT NOTICE: 2nd June 2008. Due to a fault on a piece of Met equipment at Rothera Base the PIC that is used to key the VP8ADE beacon has had to be removed in order to get the Met kit working again. It is likely that the beacon will be off air until a new part is received and fitted, which could well mean late December 2008 or even early 2009!
The base has a 10m beacon which operates on 28.285MHz and is located in the Operations Tower at the British Antarctic Survey base at Rothera, Adelaide Island.
It is in continuous operation and has an output of 10W into a homemade vertical antenna mounted on the side of the Operations Tower.
The outgoing CW message has recently been lengthened to include more information.
Please note that the base does not accept any qsl cards for the beacon.
